In February 2012, Saudi Arabian Airlines achieved a growth in the number of passengers in domestic and international flights by (27%) which reached (1,785,714) passengers versus (1,405,367) passengers in February 2011, while the number of trips increased by (17.43 %) to (13.027) trip through the month of February compared to February 2011 (11,093). The percentage of flights scheduled dates of discipline and non-scheduled (88.40%) compared to (91.37%) in February 2011 at a rate of decline was limited to (2.97%).
The report showed the operational performance of the Saudi Arabian Airlines for February 2012 the growth of passengers numbers on domestic flights to (1,057,497) compared to (903,857) passengers during same period of last year thus result the increase to (153,640) passengers and by (17%), while the number of domestic flights is (8.542) compared to (7363) trip at the last year thus result is an increase of the trip to (1179) with the ratio of (17.43%).
HE Director General of Saudi Arabian Airlines Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Melhem described the dramatic increases in the number of passengers on domestic and international flights during February compared to the same month last year is due to the grace of Allah then the efforts of the employees on all the sectors by adding (54) aircraft to the fleet which reach now to (90) aircrafts as a part of the system operational and seat capacity utilization which is available in the restructuring of scheduling trips to meet the requirements of both domestic and international.
The Minister pointed to the growth observed on the domestic sector, in particular with the number of flights during the last month, the rate of (1179) trip and an average of more than (40) trip per day, exceeding the average number of daily flights of Saudi Arabian Airlines (400) trips per day as well as increasing the number of passengers by ( 17%) on domestic flights, thus reflects the success of the operational strategy of the new lines of Saudi Arabia and of increasing the number of flights between the main stations (Riyadh / Jeddah / Dammam / Medina) and install on time throughout the year and re-distribution of trips to and from other stations in order to achieve more seat capacity to accommodate the largest number of passengers, was reflected clearly in the increase exceeded (153) thousand passengers in one month only.
He Mr. Melhem attributed the limited reduction of discipline flight times by (2.97%) is due to the unstable weather conditions in the Kingdom and Europe which led to delay some flights.
His Excellency Engineer Khalid Al-Melhem assure that Saudi Arabian Airlines continues to implement its strategic plan of action to provide more seat capacity with the succession of the arrival of new aircrafts to meet the demand and the increasing movement of air transport through the seasons and throughout the year and is making a concerted effort to utilize all its capabilities and resources of in order to fulfill its obligations to customers traveling to both domestic and international.
