Burj El Arab Airport is an airport serving Alexandria, Egypt. It is located about 40 km (25 mi) southwest of Alexandria, in Burj El Arab. The airport also serves the nearby areas of the Nile Delta. In 2009, the airport served 371,605 passengers.
Burj El Arab is planned to become the principal airport of Alexandria from December 2010 when all traffic is transferred from Alexandria International Airport (currently Alexandria's busiest airport) which will close for two years while undergoing a major re-development program.
